1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 9-inch square baking pan.
2. Stir together butter, sugar and vanilla in medium bowl; add eggs, beating well. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; add to butter mixture, mixing thoroughly. Spread half of chocolate batter in prepared pan. Spread CHEESE FILLING over top. Drop remaining chocolate batter by teaspoonfuls onto cheese filling.
3. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center of brownie batter comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into squares. Refrigerate leftover brownies. About 16 squares.
1 cup ricotta cheese
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons whole-berry cranberry sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated orange peel
4 drops red food color (optional)
Beat ricotta cheese, sugar, cranberry sauce, cornstarch and egg in small bowl until smooth. Stir in orange peel and food color, if desired.
