I have made this twice now, and get so many raves. this pie is so delicious, I will never go back to pudding again
This is Awesome...made a couple of pies for Thanksgiving this year and could not have been better. I received raving reviews from everyone who ate it. Thank you so much for the recipe. I'm am so happy Christmas if right around the corner and I have the opportunity to make another.
I made this for Thanksgiving and my bf said it was the best Chocolate Pie he has ever had. Seriously, he went on and on about it. Incredible good and easy to make. This pie will definitely be part of the Thanksgiving meal for the future (probably for Christmas as well!) Just to note; when it says to stir the mixture for one minute, if it isn't thick yet... stir it a little longer. It will thicken up!!
Wonderful. Easy. Tastes like Hershey 😊
Easy and delicious! Will try it with meringue next time!
    delicious and oh so easy!!!!
Okay, this recipe is tricky! I think that the problem that some people have with it being a runny mess is because the instructions aren't specific enough, and I don't think they are very accurate. I stirred and stirred "constantly" over "medium" heat. The mixture never thickened, and I don't think it will come to a boil if you are stirring constantly over that level of heat. I had to return the mixture to the burner after adding those final ingredients (chips), and crank the heat up in order for it to thicken. It also takes a while for this pie to set-up in the fridge. My store did not carry Hershey's morsels, so I used another brand of dark chips. It was a bit on the bitter side, so if you do use another brand of "dark" chips, I would bump the sugar up to 1 cup. I did see the Hershey's morsels at another store a couple of days later, but they are "semi-sweet", not "dark". On a side note, in addition adding a dollup of Cool Whip, I also added a dollup of vanilla frozen yogurt, and THAT indeed, made this pie "Heavenly!"
This recipe is awesome!!! And so easy! My husband absolutely loved it .
I have been making this recipe for over five years, and I have been baking for 50 years. THIS IS A WINNER! Those who are having problems should re-check their ingredients. You will get many compliments on this one if you love chocolate!!
I was very disappointed with this recipe. I followed the instructions to "the letter" and the filling did not get firm. It remained "runny" and was impossible to cut and serve after sitting overnight in the fridge. I made the ultimate chocolate brownies from the kitchen recipes and it came out great. This pie was a disaster. I am very dubious on trying another recipe from Hershey's Kitchen.
My kids loved it! They said it was a little bitter, though. So this time I'm going to mix semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips to add a litte more sweetness. Enjoy!
An absolute favorite!!! I've turned to this one again and again over the years, and always get rave reviews and recipe requests. This pie is fabulous done up in an Oreo crust, too. I've also tried substituting almond flavoring for the vanilla for a twist. If you're like my husband and not much for crusts, this makes very elegant individual desserts when chilled in ramekins and topped with whipped cream and dark chocolate shavings. Impressive presentation, heavenly taste!
i have been making this pie for 5 years...
This is absolutely the BEST chocolate pie I have ever made or eaten. It's easy and delicious. Even my mother says it's better than my grandmother's or great-grandmother's chocolate pies!!
