    These DO NOT last long!
This recipe is quick and delicious.
I LOVE this brownie recipe. I'm getting ready to make it to take to work tomorrow and I know everyone will love it as always.
very easy and very good. added 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips instead of nuts, no frosting needed. yummy
PERFECT! ...not too sweet. Well balanced flavor and should please any brownie lover. Highly recommended.
Awesome not too sweet and easy brownie with or without frosting!
I used to believe brownies did not need any kind of frosting. However, this recipe changed my mind. I had never used corn syrup in any frosting recipe that was not cooked in some form, but this is yummy!!
I added half almond extract instead of 1teaspoon of vanilla. So tasty.
I went with self-rising flour instead of the all-purpose and baking powder. I didn't want frosting or nuts, so I left them out. This is the best Best Brownies I've ever had. And the easiest I've made, of cocoa brownies. Second day and still soft and moist. I didn't add a bit more cocoa then called for also. Yummmmmmy!!!!
My best recipe so far for brownies from scratch and the frosting is to die for!
These really are the best brownies!! Very chocolaty, rich and satisfying. Easy to make, but pretty enough to impress dinner guests or take to a party.
These brownies satisfied our chocolate craving in no time! (including the time it took to make the frosting) We had warm chocolately goodness from start to finish in 45 minutes. Yum! Followed the recipe as stated.
I add chocolate chips instead of nuts just for a little extra oomph! My friends rave that they are the best brownies they've ever had every time I make them!
    I love this recipe.
Family loves this recipe. Better than a box mix! Very easy to make.
This is not a recipe for brownies, It is for chocolate cake!
This was such an easy recipe to follow. The brownies came out perfectly and the frosting is amazing. I will never buy a prepackaged mix again. :)
This is the best brownies I have ever tasted. I will never buy another boxed brownie....
I didn't frost the brownies but they tasted excellent and fresh.
I added a little over a tablespoon of vegetable oil to this recipe and the brownies came out perfect. They were the traditional brown consistency but taste much better because their from scratch!
BEST brownies I've ever had! You MUST make these, I suggest a double batch so you have more.
The easiest recipe ever !!! The texture is more like a cake rather than a brownie. But it tastes good.
Doesn't have the texture of a brownie. I expect my brownies to be more fudgy and richer tasting. Very easy though. Taste isn't bad; it tastes like a chocolate cake, but not what I expect from a brownie.
These are simple, but taste soooo great! I doubled the recipe because I like a thicker brownie versus thin brownies and used a 9 x 13 glass baking dish. And the icing is so smooth and delicious. Great tasting brownies without alot of work.
Been making these since 1974 or so...great results with minimal effort!
these are the BEST! my go-to recipe when I need something quick for bake sales
This is sooo yummy! You can totally taste the difference between brownies made from the box from brownies made from scratch. :)
The best brownies I have ever tasted. I will never buy another boxed brownie.
    So easy... yet so good.
Very Delicious. All purpose flour mixture can be substitued for self rising flour and you can also add a few tablespoons of cool whip for added moisture!! My first time baking these and they are the best brownies I've ever eaten.
Truly, the BEST brownies. They always turn out, and this has been our go-to brownie recipe for 25+ years!
Just add a little xanthan gum and use gluten free flour then voila! Simple and great.
WOW!!! I will NEVER buy a boxed brownie mix ever again. These are so simple to whip up with a whisk. I only used my mixer for the frosting. They are very rich, chocolatey & fudgy; just the way a perfect brownie should be. And the frosting is so fudgy & decadent. The recipes makes the perfect amount for the batch of brownies, if you can avoid eating it all with a spoon right out of the bowl first. Thank you, Hershey for another outstanding recipe.
One of the best brownie recipes I've come across (will use the basic recipe to bounce other idea's off of)...
    Best brownies ever!
These are the best!!! I followed the recipe to a T, except, I did not use a spoon as suggested. I used my hand mixer on low speed to incorporate the butter with the sugar and also on low for the eggs and then gradually added the flour. The result was a smooth batter that resulted in higher brownies. Mixing by spoon as I have before the texture was heavy and grainy from not incorporating the butter and sugar correctly. Hope this will help someone. The recipe is indeed the best brownies I have ever made. Will never buy packaged mixes again.
These were so very tasty! I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 pan of them. It was a little more cake like, but at the same time I think I would describe it more as a thick brownie (which in my book isn't a bad thing). Also, I was running low on cocoa so I used one portion regular cocoa and one portion dark chocolate cocoa. Since so many people had mentioned adding things I also added 1/4 cup chocolate syrup. Also, I would say the frosting is a must! That is seriously the best frosting I have had ever! I will for sure be making this again!
the reason i give it 3 stars is because i followed the exact same recipe and the "brownies" looked and had a texture that of a cake and tasted very bland and not chocolatey at all so i decided to alter the recipe a my recpe i added 1/3 cup butter instead of 1/2,also 1 1/4 cup of sugar instead of just 1 cup,3/4 cup cocoa instead of 1/3 cup, 1/8 tsp baking powder instead of 1/2 tsp and 1/2 tsp salt instead of 1/4 tsp and they turned out yes i would say that with all these alterations, they finally had the texture of and tasted like chocolatey brownies....i didnt try the icing though.
I come back to this recipe again and again. When I have time to back from scratch, this is the recipe I always pull up. For the days when you are really having strong cravings for chocolate, don't leave off the brownie frosting! A keeper!
Very easy to make; it can be doubled; great with or without frosting; family favorite. Be careful not to overbake; the brownies are done before they look done. Freezes well.
This brownie recipe is really good and easy to make.
I found this recipe to be Extra Easy and simple and didn't have to use my big mixer. They tasted magnificent. The icing was the easiest ever that I've ever made and I'm 64. And they remained shiny even the next day. Everyone LOVED Them. Yea!
I just got bored and decided to whip up a batch of these brownies, and I love them!! Both the flavor and the texture are great! I stirred in a 1/2 cup of milk chocolate, and they added just the perfect amount of sweetness. I can't wait to try these brownies again soon with peanut butter swirled in!
I've made these a few times following the exact recipe and haven't had much luck. The edges turn out rock hard while the center is undercooked. I tried adding more flour, and they cooked perfectly, but didn't taste that great.
LOVE IT!!!!! very moist and chocalatey quick and easy the frosting is the best can eat it right out of the bowl!!!
These are great & so easy to make. I like to stir in a 1/2 bag Andes Mint chips to them before i throw them into the oven.
One of my favorites! I just add a cup or two of semi-sweet chocolate chips to mine to make them more sweet rather than bitter.
This is the recipe my Grandmother Ruth taught me as a boy to bake! It is fool-proof and the best!
Very delicious and best thing to have when you are craving chocolate. I gave some to a friend who usually doesnt like brownies and she loved them.
I thought this recipe was awful! This is absolutely no reflection on hersheys cocoa. I bake with hersheys all the time because its the best. Its just the recipe. I should have known because in the reviews before mine people were adjusting the ingredients. Usually thats a sign that something is off. Too sweet, not enough cocoa, not rich enough. They tasted like watered down chocolate cake. the texture was fine (for a cake not brownies) but the flavor was just off!
absolutly amazing, easy to make healthy w/whole wheat, egg whites/applesauce
since i saw this recipe about a month ago, i've made it 5 times!.. for different occasions! :) AMAZING, easy to alter for a fairly healthy recipe as well.. didnt change taste of texture.
Very easy to make. Not too sweet, but just right...even without frosting.
This has been my "go to" brownie recipe for a good decade now. I don't feel that anything needs to be altered and it is ready to go in the oven before it even pre-heats!
Absolutely mouth-watering. Beats the mixes all to pieces!
absolutly fantastic, made a recipe with white cho chips and another with reeses pieces!!! mmmmmmmmm i'll be making these very often!.. i love that its a pretty small batch too... not too many to eat! :)
it's just mouth watering i love it . no wonder i'm the cook for thanksgiving!
Great for church functions, socials, kids birthdays, pot lucks. Nice and moist always a big hit
These were the best homemade brownies I've ever had. They were easy to make and the frosting was the perfect compliment. My father and fiance' request these all the time!
Very easy and fudgy. I skiopped the nuts and added butterscotch chips. The kids LOVED them!
Its so rich and moist and delicious
Could a brownie recipe from scratch get any easier? No. Wow!
I've made this a few times and it comes out perfectly every time. I use only half the amount of sugar and add some coffee granules to the frosting which makes it a little more decadent.
This is my all time favorite brownie recipe.
good brownies...I double this recipe for a 13x9 pan.. brownies are so easy to make but many people tend to overbake them!
Yum! The brownies turn out moist and flavorful.
I make this recipe over and over and I love it. I use a little bit less sugar and instead of using oil, I use melted butter. The difference is outstanding.....the brownies come out richer and without hardened edges.
mmmmm very chocolatey. I increased the cocoa to 1/2 cup to accomidate the extra large eggs I had on hand.
This is an excellent recipe. You'll see this in my other posts, you should never spend your money on storebought mixes after trying this one! I have mixed up about four batches worth of the dry ingredients and stored them in an airtight container so that when I'm hungry for brownies, all I have to do is add the wet ingredients. Think of the money you are saving by doing this! However, I do add a little water--about 1/3 cup--whenever I make it from my mix. Use two cups of mix to the wet ingredients you see above. You can also use this same recipe to make "Brownie in a Jar", but note, it makes about two cups, so you need a larger jar. You can layer your ingredients like they show on the recipe by the same name, decorate your jar, and give it to your friends who just can resist chocolate.
Our favorite and always requested at family gatherings!!
This was my first time making brownies from scratch and they came out great! The recipe is easy to make and they are delicious (I just made the brownies without the topping). My husband loved them too!
I use this recipe for a half batch of the Hershey's Best Brownies, and my family LOVES them both. We have not tried the frosting for this recipe, yet, but I'm sure it's delicious, too.
My all-time favourite brownie recipe ... yum!
Really good texture, it was moist and delicious. I did cut down on the sugar amount because we don't like overly sweet desserts.
