Ingredients

  • 48 HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup REESE'S Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup additional granulated sugar for rolling

Directions

  • 1. Heat oven to 375°F. Remove wrappers from chocolates.
  • 2. Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.
  • 3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar, if desired; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around edges. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Makes about 48 cookies.

Ratings & Reviews

These are great! All the good ratings except for one? Hmm, wonder if they over-baked them and left something out?
These cookies are wonderful. Crisp outside, creamy peanut buttery inside. I used butter instead of shortening , just prefer it. I cooked 7.5 minutes and immediately added the Kiss. My balls were not refrigerated but still did not flatten when cooked so the Kiss flattened the cookie perfectly. I also used to make these using stars but they are getting harder to find every year and this year seemed to disappear. The stars on the cookies transport easier. I should add I mix my cookie dough by hand as I feel a mixer tends to over mix the batter.
One of my favorite recipes for Christmas cookie baking. Always great for gifting; stores so well. Flawless recipe; comes out beautiful every year. Love the peanut butter flavor with Hershey's kisses! Love, love, love this cookie!!
These were WONDERFUL!!! We received these on a home-made cookie platter as a gift a few years ago. We were just dying to try the recipe for ourselves, because we all loved them so much. When we found the recipe for ourselves, we confirmed it was the one she used and it was. Hers had the Reese's Peanut Butter, first time we made ours we had to use what we had on hand. It was also "creamy" and they turned out fine. So, even though they are better just like the recipe, you can use what you have on hand too and follow this recipe. (Then go out and get the good stuff and do it again the way it was meant to be! You'll enjoy it twice as much!!) These were great with peppermint kisses and pumpkin kisses too! (We made all three kinds!)
Made these today to put in Christmas baskets. Tasted great and so cute!
This was a good recipe. It wasn't too sweet. Some of the recipes are overly sweet. I used whole wheat pastry flour and it worked just fine. Next time I am going to try using palm sugar.
This recipe is easy to make. The most time consuming part is unwrapping the Kisses. These cookies are always a hit.
    added little cocoa ....... YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
This is a great classic recipe, of course, and very easy. I just made a variation with almond butter and Special Dark Hershey's kisses that was to die for. Give it a try. I think the caramel filled kisses would be very good also.
Love them!! Family loves too :)
I've been making these since I was a kid every year for Christmas - delicious!!
    This recipe is very easy....
    So good!!!
Made these for the first time, hubby took some to work. They loved these so much the guys asked if I would make some more! Delicious! The combination of chocolate and peanut butter is always a winner!
    <3 this recipe!
I think this recipe deservs more than 3 stars... Very easy, fast, and tasty recipie - terrific for the holidays or any special occasion. A real crowd pleaser!
this is a great recipe and everybody loves them. So easy to make.
These cookies are so cute and easy to make. My whole family loves to eat these around the holidays. I personally like Hugs on top instead of Kisses but I usually make both kinds for my family. Honestly though, these cookies are great for any occasion!
My favorite cookie for Christmas. I made these again today and everyone love them!
These are a definite holiday favorite! I had never made these before, but they were pretty simple. However, a little time consuming. I feel that the cookie part wasn't as sweet as I remember, but I may use 1/2 cup of sugar instead of the 1/3 cup next time or add a half tsp more of vanilla.
This is not the same recipie I remember. I remember it this way 1/2c shortning 1/2c peanut buter 1/2c sugar 1/2c brown sugar 1 egg 1tsp vanilla 1 1/8c flour 1tsp baking soda 375 degrees for 8 minutes take out and put on kisses i had to call my mom to get this because this was the recipie put out in the 70's and is the recipie i like best i didn't like this one
My mom used to make these all the time when I was younger, I forgot about them until a few days ago when my brother mentioned them. They are definitely a childhood favorite.
I love these cookies and I get rave reviews everytime I bake them. I always have to do a double batch and I still have to put 4-5 of them back if I am going to have any to enjoy with my hot tea.
they r great looked everywhere for this recipe
    Excellent
EASY, QUICK, FUN! This is a good recipe if you want to include a child. They can easily roll the dough into balls, coat them with sugar, or really do any of the steps. My younger sister loves rolling the dough into balls. It's a fun bonding time! I also agree that this recipe is good for ANY occasion! <img src="http://i46.tinypic.com/npotfo.jpg">
no one can ever get enough of these. they are amazing!
I love to bake these WONDERFUL cookies!. They are fun and easy to make. I think they also make a nice decoration. I usually make them for Halloween and Christmas and even New Years as decorations and I find myself eating them. I think they make a wonderful party cookie no matter what holiday rolls around!.
I have to make a double batch when I make these...Every one loves them; they go in about a day!
It wouldn't be Christmas at my house unless we left some of these for Santa! One of the best.
These turned out great! As good as I remember as a kid at Christmastime!
Excellent recipe! Quick and easy. My grandchildren help me make this each year for Santa. They love putting on the kisses.
YUMMY YUMMY and very quick and easy. All my boys love 'em!
