HERSHEY'S BAKING MELTS Fudgey Brownies Recipe

  • 3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-3/4 cups (9.5-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY'S BAKING MELTS Milk Chocolate or (10-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY'S BAKING MELTS Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • Powdered sugar


  • 1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  • 2. Stir together cocoa and baking soda in large bowl; stir in 1/3 cup butter. Add boiling water; stir until mixture thickens. Stir in granulated sugar, eggs, remaining 1/3 cup butter and vanilla; stir until smooth. Add flour and salt; blend completely. Stir in chocolate pieces. Spread in prepared pan.
  • 3. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired. Cut into bars. Makes about 24 brownies.

    These are the best brownies I have ever eaten! They are scrumptious! It's funny that I wound up making them because I had inadvertently purchased the baking melts instead of the chips. I gave my son's family some of these and soon received a message from the daughter-in-law to PLEASE send her the recipe. I'm sure these will be a frequent dish at family gatherings.
