1 cup HEATH BITS 'O BRICKLE Toffee Bits or HEATH Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 to 3 teaspoons milk
1. Heat oven to 350° F. Line 13x9x2-inch baking pan with foil, extending foil beyond sides of pan.
2. Beat butter, sugar and maple flavor in large bowl until fluffy. Gradually beat in flour, beating until well blended and large crumbs start to form. Stir in toffee bits; pat dough into prepared pan.
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 10 minutes; cut into bars or triangles. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
4. Lift bars from pan; place on cutting board and peel back sides of foil. Stir together powdered sugar and milk; drizzle over bars. When drizzle is almost set, recut bars and separately slightly. Allow drizzle to set up completely. Makes about 24 bars.
This is delicious and one of the easiest things to make. I like to use colored sprinkles for the holidays instead of the glaze (put on before baking) and I use real maple syrup instead of maple flavoring. It turns out everytime and everyone loves it. I like the toffee bits better than the ones with chocolate.
Wonderful surprise for a basic shortbread. Use the Heath with the chocolate for a comfort element.
