  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks) , softened
  • 1-1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa or HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Cocoa
  • 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/3 cups HERSHEY'S KISSABLES Chocolate Candy in red, green and white colors
  • powdered sugar Additional

Directions

  • 1. Heat oven to 300°F. Beat butter, 1-1/4 cups powdered sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add cocoa; blend well. Gradually add flour, stirring until smooth.
  • 2. Roll or pat dough to 1/4-inch thickness on lightly floured surface or between 2 pieces of wax paper. With cookie cutter, cut in holiday shapes. Reroll dough scraps, cutting cookies until dough is used. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Place candy coated chocolates in desired design on cookie shapes; press into dough slightly.
  • 3. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until firm. (Chocolates will crack slightly.) Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Sprinkle cookies with powdered sugar for "snow" effect. Makes about 54 (2-inch diameter) cookies.
  • For even baking, place cookies of similar size and shape on the same cookie sheet.
  • Variation:
  • JINGLE-BELL BUTTON SNOWMEN: Omit cocoa; increase flour to 2-1/4 cups. Cut dough into snowmen shapes; place CADBURY Candy Coated Milk Chocolates in holiday colors on snowmen as buttons. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until cookies begin to brown slightly. (Milk chocolate pieces will crack to resemble the balls on jingle bells.) Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Sprinkle cookies with powdered sugar. About 2 dozen 4-inch snowmen.
