  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/3 cups HERSHEY'S Premier EXTRA DARK Chocolate Chips (8-oz. pkg.)
  • 1 cup almond slivers* toasted

Directions

  • 1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  • 2. Place butter and water in saucepan. Heat over medium heat until butter is melted. Stir in sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; beat with wooden spoon until well blended.
  • 3. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Gradually stir into sugar mixture, stirring until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and almonds. Spread mixture in prepared pan.
  • 4. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes about 24 bars.
  • *To toast almonds: Heat oven to 350°F. Spread almonds in thin layer in shallow baking pan. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light golden brown; cool.
