  • 2 medium apples such as Granny Smith
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup HERSHEY'S Caramel Topping , divided
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • Ice cream (optional)
  • Additional HERSEY'S Caramel Topping (optional)

Directions

  • 1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 8- or 9-inch square baking pan.
  • 2. Peel and chop apples to make about 1-1/2 cups; set aside.
  • 3. Beat oil, 1/4 cup caramel topping, eggs and vanilla in large mixing bowl until well blended. Stir together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; beat into egg mixture. Add reserved apple pieces and nuts; stir until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • 4. Drizzle batter with remaining 1/4 cup caramel topping. Swirl caramel through batter with metal spatula or knife.
  • 5. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until wooden pick inserted into center comes out almost clean and cake is beginning to pull from sides of pan. Cool in pan on wire rack. Serve warm or cool with ice cream and additional caramel topping, if desired. Makes 9 servings.
