  • BUTTERSCOTCH STREUSEL (recipe follows)
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg , slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Butterscotch Chips
  • 3/4 cup chunky applesauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

  • 1. Prepare BUTTERSCOTCH STREUSEL; set aside. Heat oven to 350°F. Line muffin cups (2-1/2 inches in diameter) with paper bake cups.
  • 2. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon in large bowl. Add egg, milk and oil; stir just until blended. Stir in butterscotch chips, applesauce and nuts, if desired. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full with batter. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon streusel mixture on top of each muffin.
  • 3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center of muffin comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove to wire rack. Makes about 18 muffins.
  • BUTTERSCOTCH STREUSEL: Combine 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar and 2 tablespoons softened butter or margarine in small bowl; mix with fork until crumbly. Stir in 1/4 cup HERSHEY'S Butterscotch Chips.
