The beauty of chocolate and hot cocoa is that it pairs nicely with a variety of other flavors. Here are some of our favorites hot cocoa recipes:
We’ve perfected a cocoa recipe for the right amount of sweet chocolate creaminess. This recipe can serve as the base for the variations below.
HOT COCOA MOCHA: Replace half the water noted in the classic recipe above with hot coffee and top with extra HERSHEY’S Chocolate Syrup and a chocolate shaving.
SPICED COCOA: Add 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
MINT COCOA: Add 1/2 teaspoon mint extract OR 3 tablespoons crushed hard peppermint candy OR 2 to 3 tablespoons white creme de menthe. Serve with peppermint candy stick.
CITRUS COCOA: Add 1/2 teaspoon orange extract OR 2 to 3 tablespoons orange liqueur.
SWISS MOCHA: Add 2 to 2-1/2 teaspoons powdered instant coffee.
COCOA AU LAIT: Omit marshmallows or whipped cream from the classic recipe. Replace with 2 tablespoons softened vanilla ice cream on top of each cup of cocoa at serving time.
MAPLE COCOA: Add 1/2 teaspoon maple extract.
