Well friends, the holidays are just around the corner. And you just can’t wait to see your loved ones’ faces light up when they open their gifts and then have them sit around the table together, feasting, sharing and laughing. It’s what makes this time of year so special.
If you are anything like us, you likely have some guests that pop by for a quick visit unexpectedly, or you are pressed for time and can’t find time to whip up something in the oven. Here are some of our go-to super tips and tricks.
Whip up some hot chocolate made with HERSHEY’S Cocoa and milk in a crock pot so it stays warm and ready to go. Keep an assortment of “add-ins” on hand so each guest can personalize his or her own mug of cocoa. Even the simplest of ingredients can add a little extra fun to cocoa. We have used instant coffee, crushed peppermint candies, butterscotch chips, caramel sauce, and peanut butter, among others. The options are limitless. You can even offer flavored whipped creams by simply whipping HERSHEY’S Syrups (chocolate, strawberry or caramel) into the whipped cream before adding a dollop onto each mug.
Individual trifles in parfait glasses make an impressive and impressively easy dessert. Just layer cake or brownie pieces with instant pudding, whipped cream and baking chips or chopped candies. And voila! Elegant treats in no time flat.
Grill slices of pound cake and top with ice cream and HERSHEY’S Syrup or HERSHEY’S Toppings. These are fun to assemble with your guests so they can add as many toppings as they like.
Top crisp chocolate wafer cookies with about 1 teaspoon HERSHEY’S Kitchens SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips or Milk Chocolate Chips. Melt on parchment-lined cookie sheet in 200 degree oven about 5 minutes or until chocolate is melted and can be spread with a spatula. Remove from oven; spread melted chocolate to cover surface of cookie and immediately top with toasted coconut, crushed peppermint, chopped nuts or other garnishes. Serve while still slightly warm or cool completely.
Decorate 4-inch flat sugar cookies with frostings and assorted HERSHEY’S products. For the holidays, we recommend you add a vanilla frosting smoothed across the top of the cookie, drizzle some peppermint flavors frosting (add peppermint extract and some finely chopped peppermint candies to a parchment bag), and sprinkle some additional crushed peppermint candies.
Heat up unbuttered popcorn. Drizzle caramel corn with melted chips and allow to firm before serving. Add a sprinkle of sea salt for a sweet and salty bite.
