Sensational Peppermint Patties Brownies Recipe

|24 small (1-1/2 inch/3.5 cm)||YORK Peppermint Patties (24)|
|1 1/2 cups||butter or margarine, melted (375 mL)|
|3 cups||granulated sugar (750 mL)|
|1 tbsp||vanilla extract (15 mL)|
|2 cups||all-purpose flour (500 mL)|
|1 cup||HERSHEY'S Cocoa (250 mL)|
|1 tsp||baking powder (5 mL)|
|1 tsp||salt (5 mL)|
- 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9 x 13-inch (3.5 L) baking pan; set aside. (Decrease temperature to 325°F (170°C) if using a glass baking dish.) Remove wrappers from peppermint patties.
2. Stir butter with sugar and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat in eggs until well combined. Stir in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt until well blended. Measure out 2 cups (500 mL) of batter; reserve.
3. Spread remaining batter in prepared pan. Arrange patties, about 1/2-inch (1 cm) apart, in a single layer over batter. Top with reserved batter.
4. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Place on a rack and cool completely; cut into squares.
Makes about 36 squares.
