A Recipe for Happiness
Our founder Milton Hershey believed that happiness comes from simple things. Today, the original HERSHEY’S ingredients continue to tell the story of HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate, from cocoa to milk and beyond.
If you took a bite of a cocoa bean, it wouldn’t taste like the chocolate you know and love. That’s because it’s missing a key ingredient. Milk is what makes HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate so creamy and smooth, bringing out the potential of every other ingredient it touches. It also holds a special place in our heart. True to our roots, we continue to use farm fresh milk from within 100 miles of Hershey, PA, in many of our products.
We believe the best chocolate starts with the best cacao. That’s why we buy all of our cacao through our Swiss trading office in Lucerne, Switzerland, at the heart of the cacao industry. Sourced from growing regions around the world, this core ingredient is grown for its richness, versatility and time-tested flavor. The result is quality you can taste in every bite of HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate.
The almonds in every HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate with Almonds Bar begin their journey in sunny, fertile soil. Grown with the wisdom of dedicated almond growers, these nuts are harvested to become a star ingredient in our chocolate treats. As a proud supporter of American farmers — and one of the largest almond buyers in North America — we source all of our almonds from California.
We source high-quality sugar from plantations across the southern U.S. and around the world. From there, this 10,000-year-old crop plays the important role of adding the right amount of sweetness. It’s also used to perfect the texture of our chocolate.
