The History of GOOD & PLENTY Candy

Created by the Quaker City Chocolate and Confectionery Company in 1893, GOOD & PLENTY Candy is one of the oldest branded candies in the United States. Hershey purchased the brand in 1996 with the acquisition of Leaf, Inc.


In a 1950 commercial for GOOD & PLENTY Candy, “Choo Choo Charlie” made his debut. Choo Choo Charlie was an engineer who used GOOD & PLENTY Candy to make the train run. Soon everyone was singing Charlie’s catchy jingle: “Love my Good and Plenty! Really rings the bell! Love my Good and Plenty! Don’t know any other candy that I love so well.”
