How to Make

  • Creating the House

  • Use a piece of 14" x 14" cardboard as the house’s base. Paint cardboard green with dots of brown, orange and purple. Cut an opening in the center to allow glow sticks to be inserted under the house.

  • Trace the haunted mansion template onto poster board. Cut out along solid pattern lines. Use a dull knife to score along dotted lines.

  • Assemble the poster board house, following instructions on the template. Glue house diagonally in the center of the cardboard base.

  • Use aluminum foil to create molds for the windows. First, mark the window size on foil with a marker. Then cut out about an inch outside the marked line and fold foil in half twice to about 1/4" away from the line.

  • Place 6 unwrapped JOLLY RANCHER Hard Candies in large windows, 4 candies in medium-sized windows and 2 candies in small windows.

  • Place molds on cookie sheet and bake at 250°F for about 10 minutes or until candy is melted. Allow to cool completely before removing foil. Use masking tape to adhere the windows to the inside of the house.

  • Create the ghosts in the windows by tracing pattern onto black paper and cutting out. Press or glue ghosts in place against the inside of the windows.

  • Decorating the House

  • Place eight HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate bars in an oven-safe bowl. Then, set the bowl inside of a crock pot filled with several inches of water. (Make sure no water touches the chocolate.) Turn crock pot on high, and stir the chocolate often until thoroughly melted.

  • Use melted chocolate to adhere KIT KAT Wafer Bars to the base of the house. Use a sharp knife to cut KIT KAT Wafer Bars as necessary to fit around the windows.

  • Separate HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate and SPECIAL DARK Chocolate bars and adhere like shingles to the roof.

  • Apply melted chocolate to dormer windows and cupola.

  • Use HERSHEY’S Snack Size Milk Chocolate bars to make steps to the front door. Cut diagonally to make the roofs for the dormer windows and cupola.

  • Add a HERSHEY’S Cookies ‘n’ Creme bar for the door.

  • Adding the Finishing Touches

  • Use craft foam cut in 3/4" strips to fit around each of the windows.

  • Cut TWIZZLERS Chocolate Twists into 3" pieces. Hot-glue them to the cardboard base to make a fence.

  • Create trees by twisting three TWIZZLERS Chocolate Twists together and hold in place by wrapping 3 to 4" of dark wire around the center. To create branches and roots, cut the TWIZZLERS Chocolate Twists in half lengthwise, leaving space around the wire. Hot-glue trees to the base.

  • Make a path of melted chocolate from the front door to edge of cardboard base and decorate with REESE’S PIECES Candy.

  • Dip toothpicks in melted chocolate and place around the rooftop to create a widow’s walk.

  • Light the haunted house by breaking and installing the light stick through the bottom of the cardboard base.

  • Completed craft is for decorative purposes only. Candy used in craft should not be eaten.
