We've been making this cake since I was a very young girl. When I lost the recipe I almost cried. I love the rich flavor and enjoy making it for special occasions. I prefer using a Bulgarian Buttermilk, it's what my mom used in it, not the watery buttermilk you can purchase now.

Absolutely the best chocolate cake recipe I've found. I've tried others, (especially ones from my Hershey cookbooks), but my sons insist on this recipe for both my decorated cakes and cupcakes. I tried it 20 years ago when I visited Hershey and bought my first Hershey cookbook. It rises beautifully every time! You can't beat the taste. I think the buttermilk is one of the secrets to this recipe.

I have been baking this cake since I was a kid. This is the best chocolate cake recipe I have ever tasted. It is so moist and chocolaty. Make with the new dark chocolate cocoa and it is just unbelievably yummy.

This was my ex husband's favorite cake. I used to bake one every Friday when we were married. We remained very close over the years and when he was in hospice care he wanted me to bake him his chocolate cake on Friday, just as I always had for him when we were married. This cake recipe helped to create a bond in our family that lasted close to 50 yrs.

The cake I made was delicious but didn't look much like yours in the photo. We don't get all pupose flour over here so I tried plain flour and I think that had something to do with it.

Have loved this recipe for nearly 40 years! When I use buttermilk, I call it my 2-Ton cake because it is sooo heavy. When I use sour milk, it's lighter. Either way, it's perfect. The accompanying frosting is my favorite for anytime I want chocolate frosting (which is always!) Now it's time to introduce it to my nephew's wife.

This is the only chocolate cake recipe I've used since my first trip to Hershey, PA in 1983. My sons only request this cake - they don't even want another one tried. I have shared this recipe with countless friends and relatives! Everyone loves it! It always rises nicely.

From about age 12 to my 40s i made this cake every 4th of July and select birthdays. Growing up in Pomona, CA my family always wanted me to enter it in the LA County Fair. I either frosted it with Favorite Fluffy hwite Frosting from an old cookbook or a mocha cream cheese frosting. I always use boiling left over coffee instead of water to dissolve the cocoa.

I baked this cake from a recipe on the back of a Hersey's Coco can over 30-35 years ago. It's been a favorite for many years and is still the best Chocolate cake I've ever eaten. Having lost a book with the recipe in it I came here looking for the name and found it! Thank you. roseythings
