HERSHEY’S KISSES Brand Chocolate Costume

Materials Needed:

• 5 yards of silver metallic fabric
• Needle and thread
• 1-1/2 feet of Velcro
• 4 feet of thick string
• 4 foot square piece of cardboard
• 1 yard white fabric
• Glue gun and glue sticks
• Blue marker
• Bobby pins or hair barrettes
• Scissors
• Iron
• Old newspaper
• White top and black pants and shoes

Directions:

1. For base of the costume, cut silver fabric into a circle about 4 feet across, with 2 leg holes about 4 inches apart.
2. Cut rest of fabric into 5 sections in the shape of a HERSHEY’S KISSES Brand Chocolate, each section should measure in height from the shoulder to just below the hips of the child. (See Pattern-1)
3. Cut cardboard into a donut shape slightly larger than the size of your fabric base with enough room in the middle to go over the child's hips.
4. Glue the bottom edges of the fabric onto the edge of the cardboard donut.
5. Sew the sides of the 5 KISS sections together, leaving the last seam open. Also leave top and bottom open.
6. Glue the bottom edges of the main body to the cardboard circle base.
7. Attach Velcro strip to the sides of the open seam. Fold in the unfinished sides of the fabric to hide the frayed ends.
8. Turn inside out to hide the seams.
9. For the arm holes, cut "X" patterns into the fabric just below shoulder height. Pull the triangle tabs of the "x" inside and glue.
10. At the neck line fold over and sew so there is a channel wide enough to run string through.
11. Straighten out a paper clip and tape the string to the end.
12. Run the paper clip and string through the channels and knot the ends once your are all the way through.
13. When the costume is on, stuff with newspaper, Velcro shut and loosely tie the string around the neck.

To make flag:

1. Cut a strip of white fabric 2 feet by 10 inches long.
2. Fold it in half so the finished piece will be 5 inches wide, and glue along the outside edge and press down as you go.
3. Turn it inside out and iron flat.
4. Use a blue marker to write "KISSES" as many times as it will fit along the length of the fabric.
5. Secure fabric in place with bobby pins or barrettes hot glued to top of flag.
