WOW!!! I will NEVER buy a boxed brownie mix ever again. These are so simple to whip up with a whisk. I only used my mixer for the frosting. They are very rich, chocolatey & fudgy; just the way a perfect brownie should be. And the frosting is so fudgy & decadent. The recipes makes the perfect amount for the batch of brownies, if you can avoid eating it all with a spoon right out of the bowl first. Thank you, Hershey for another outstanding recipe.

These are the best!!! I followed the recipe to a T, except, I did not use a spoon as suggested. I used my hand mixer on low speed to incorporate the butter with the sugar and also on low for the eggs and then gradually added the flour. The result was a smooth batter that resulted in higher brownies. Mixing by spoon as I have before the texture was heavy and grainy from not incorporating the butter and sugar correctly. Hope this will help someone. The recipe is indeed the best brownies I have ever made. Will never buy packaged mixes again.

These were so very tasty! I doubled the recipe to make a 13x9 pan of them. It was a little more cake like, but at the same time I think I would describe it more as a thick brownie (which in my book isn't a bad thing). Also, I was running low on cocoa so I used one portion regular cocoa and one portion dark chocolate cocoa. Since so many people had mentioned adding things I also added 1/4 cup chocolate syrup. Also, I would say the frosting is a must! That is seriously the best frosting I have had ever! I will for sure be making this again!

the reason i give it 3 stars is because i followed the exact same recipe and the "brownies" looked and had a texture that of a cake and tasted very bland and not chocolatey at all so i decided to alter the recipe a bit.in my recpe i added 1/3 cup butter instead of 1/2,also 1 1/4 cup of sugar instead of just 1 cup,3/4 cup cocoa instead of 1/3 cup, 1/8 tsp baking powder instead of 1/2 tsp and 1/2 tsp salt instead of 1/4 tsp and they turned out perfect.so yes i would say that with all these alterations, they finally had the texture of and tasted like chocolatey brownies....i didnt try the icing though.

I come back to this recipe again and again. When I have time to back from scratch, this is the recipe I always pull up. For the days when you are really having strong cravings for chocolate, don't leave off the brownie frosting! A keeper!

Very easy to make; it can be doubled; great with or without frosting; family favorite. Be careful not to overbake; the brownies are done before they look done. Freezes well.

I found this recipe to be Extra Easy and simple and didn't have to use my big mixer. They tasted magnificent. The icing was the easiest ever that I've ever made and I'm 64. And they remained shiny even the next day. Everyone LOVED Them. Yea!

I just got bored and decided to whip up a batch of these brownies, and I love them!! Both the flavor and the texture are great! I stirred in a 1/2 cup of milk chocolate, and they added just the perfect amount of sweetness. I can't wait to try these brownies again soon with peanut butter swirled in!

I've made these a few times following the exact recipe and haven't had much luck. The edges turn out rock hard while the center is undercooked. I tried adding more flour, and they cooked perfectly, but didn't taste that great.

I thought this recipe was awful! This is absolutely no reflection on hersheys cocoa. I bake with hersheys all the time because its the best. Its just the recipe. I should have known because in the reviews before mine people were adjusting the ingredients. Usually thats a sign that something is off. Too sweet, not enough cocoa, not rich enough. They tasted like watered down chocolate cake. the texture was fine (for a cake not brownies) but the flavor was just off!

I make this recipe over and over and I love it. I use a little bit less sugar and instead of using oil, I use melted butter. The difference is outstanding.....the brownies come out richer and without hardened edges.

This is an excellent recipe. You'll see this in my other posts, you should never spend your money on storebought mixes after trying this one! I have mixed up about four batches worth of the dry ingredients and stored them in an airtight container so that when I'm hungry for brownies, all I have to do is add the wet ingredients. Think of the money you are saving by doing this! However, I do add a little water--about 1/3 cup--whenever I make it from my mix. Use two cups of mix to the wet ingredients you see above. You can also use this same recipe to make "Brownie in a Jar", but note, it makes about two cups, so you need a larger jar. You can layer your ingredients like they show on the recipe by the same name, decorate your jar, and give it to your friends who just can resist chocolate.
