Ruth Wakefield first invented chocolate chip cookies in 1937 in Massachusetts. Ironically, Hershey did not launch its first Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips until 33 years later in 1970. Ever since, the company has actively built its portfolio, and today Hershey is the leader in flavor variety with 15 products available, including its most recent additions, SPECIAL DARK Chips and Unwrapped HERSHEY'S KISSES Milk Chocolates in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
