Those
who feed children need encouragement to construct feeding environments
that include, whenever possible, all of the elements of successful
child-feeding: structure, consistency, variety, and opportunities
for learning and mastery within a supportive emotional atmosphere.
How these constructs should and can be operationalized over the course
of individual meals, days, months, and years will vary greatly from
family to family. However, it is essential for children's physical
and emotional health that families be guided towards the adoption
of eating and feeding practices that enhance dietary variety and the
attainment of healthy growth and weight. |
