Chocolate and Almond Surprise Brownies


  • 16 HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates with Almonds
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Cocoa or HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar for dusting


  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 8- or 9-inch square pan. Remove wrappers from chocolates; set aside.

  2. Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Add sugar and cocoa; stir to blend. Remove from heat. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Stir together flour, salt and baking soda; stir into chocolate mixture. Spread in prepared pan. Arrange chocolates on top of batter so that one chocolate piece will be in each cut brownie; lightly push into batter. (Chocolates will become completely hidden as the brownie bakes.)

  3. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden pick insertd into brownie two inches from the edge (and not inserted into chocolate piece) comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cut into bars. Makes 16 brownies.
