A few bright ideas can really brighten up your holiday. Give a gift that makes someone smile. Spice up your décor with a few extra touches. Add some pizzazz to your party and make it one for the ages. Here are some helpful ideas to get you started.

Don't forget the pet!
Share the season with your pets, too. They may not be able to read a calendar, but they can sure get into the holiday spirit. And somehow that toy from the dollar bin at the grocery store is a lot more exciting when it's wrapped up in shiny paper.

Flood your home with fragrance.
Just baking cookies or cooking up a special supper can give your home a cozy holiday atmosphere. But when you're not making anything to eat, try making your own potpurri on the stove. Just combine orange peel, cinnamon, and whole cloves in a small pan of water, then let it simmer on a low heat, refilling with more water when necessary. Of course, there are always scented candles, too.

Soup's on!
Make a big pot of soup or stew, then stick it in the fridge or freeze it. It's a great way to have a home made meal on hand, even if you're busy running around all day.

Organize a walk or run.
It can be tough to get exercise during the holidays, and just as tough to get a little fresh air. Make it a tradition to take a nice walk with family at the holidays. Or why not get the neighbors together to make room for that big meal? You can even string up a finish line and make it a race.

Start a holiday collection.
It can be fun to commemorate each year by adding something new to a collection. Whether it's certain kinds of ornaments, antique toys, snow globes, or just stamps, you can start a little tradition that the whole family can participate in.

It's a trade-off.
Having two (or more) sides to a family can create problems at the holidays. Working out a schedule ahead of time can save you a headache. If you live close, you can do an evening with one side, and a day with the other. If you live far away, you'll probably have to trade holidays or years.

Make a conference call.
With cell phones and other technology, long distance rates are pretty reasonable-or even non-existent. Gather everyone around, set it to speakerphone, and call friends and family across the country or around the world. Or, get extra fancy and do it with a webcam!

Volunteer.
Not only does volunteering feel good, it's a great way to bond with family members, friends, or members of the local community. Get out there, get involved, and make the world a better place!

Take a break - even if it's only for 10 minutes. Sit back and relax with a steaming cup of HERSHEY'S cocoa or a glass of red wine and a piece of HERSHEY'S dark chocolate. All contain natural flavanol antioxidants that studies have shown provide cardiovascular health benefits.

Deck the halls with boughs of holly!
For a finishing touch to your holiday decorating, don't forget to fill your candy bowls with holiday wrapped treats. HERSHEY'S KISSES brand chocolates, HERSHEY'S MINIATURES and REESE'S peanut butter bells are just a few of the seasonally wrapped treats available from The Hershey Company.

Have the kids help with an inexpensive but creative gifting solution - homemade Christmas cookies. Go to www.hersheyskitchens.com for a multitude of tried and tested recipes developed by the experts in "sweet treats." Peanut Butter Blossoms, an all-time favorite, uses HERSHEY'S KISSES brand chocolates and is loved by "kids" of all ages.
