Materials:
Directions:
From a Styrofoam sheet 1" X 12" X 36", cut the four pieces of the birdhouse. Cut one piece 9" x 4" to form the base, cut two pieces 6" X 2" each for the roof, cut the front and back of the house using pattern provided (See Figure 1.)
Cover the base with green felt. Using the pattern for the front of the house, cut out two pieces from the blue felt and cover front and back of the matching Styrofoam pieces. (Remember to cut out the hole in the center of both pieces.)
To assemble, place house in the center of the base, secure in place by using glue and 4 wooden skewers. Secure by inserting each skewer through the top of the house down through the base. (See Figure 2.)
Attach the roof pieces using glue and securing with toothpicks. Cover both sides with yellow felt.
Decorate the birdhouse from the base up by gluing the flat end of the chocolates to the flat surface of the house. (Remember to decorate both sides if you plan to use as a table centerpiece.)
To make the springy buds in the garden, cut 5" lengths of floral wire and twirl each piece around a pencil to form the spring. Insert one end of wire into bottom of a pink Kiss and the other end into the green base.
To make the butterfly, glue two chocolates flat ends together with the feather wings between the chocolates. Using the same instructions as the springy buds, take a coiled wire and insert one end into the chocolate and the other end into the roof.
Complete by creating a nest out of Spanish moss for our bluebird to sit on. Insert a wooden skewer cut to 3" length through the house below the bird's nest for a perch.
Finished size: 10" high X 9" wide.
